Whilst visitors may call us the Pontardawe Inn, we are also known as the Gwachel. Meaning ‘hidden’, the pub got this name from a road side sign warning drivers of a hidden dip caused by being closely located to a ford across the river Tawe. Interested? Be sure to ask our staff a bit more about our history. Our team are also happy to chat through our extensive drinks selection, from the real ales to the wide range of wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks on offer. They can also recommend a food choice from our menu. Steaks, curries, fish and chips or a veggie option, we have it all. Our kids’ menu is packed with crowd-pleasers they’ll love, so you can relax knowing everyone will leave full and happy. Guests can also enjoy our beer garden, regular live music shows and of course some of the local groups that we host each week. Our pub is also home to the Pontardawe Town FC Welsh League side – so be sure to ask us about them too.
